Abstract
Comparing first and second language acquisition has been the focus of interest of researchers in the fields of linguistics, psycholinguistics and teaching a second or foreign language. However, it has proven to be a very complex area to deal with. For example, many different views have evolved throughout the history of its development, and theories resulting from such an extensive investigation have led to different approaches to the study, learning and teaching of second languages.
