Journal History

HOW is a biannual academic publication edited by the Colombian Association of Teachers of English – ASOCOPI. HOW Journal was first published in its current form in 1996 as one of the means for the Association to keep its affiliates informed about the latest research being done by teacher-researchers from all educational levels in the area of teaching English as a second or foreign language. Although, at first, the intended readership was ASOCOPI’s affiliates, HOW Journal has experienced in recent years an increase in its visibility and has begun to figure importantly as an information source for a wider audience of academics from Colombia and abroad. All this thanks to the journal’s efforts to include contents that reflect a broader and more global approach which allows the publication of manuscripts authored by Colombian as well as international scholars or by pre-service and in-service teachers.

HOW Journal is classified by Colciencias—the Colombian research agency—in category C. Additionally, the HOW Journal has been indexed by international reference systems such as CLASE, Infotrac GALE Cengage Learning—Informe Académico, EBSCO, Educational Research Abstracts—ERA, The Education Resources Information Center - ERIC, and the MLA International Bibliography. The HOW Journal is also included in the Directory of Open Access Journals - DOAJ, Dialnet, Latindex, Redalyc, and SciELO Colombia.
