Abstract

Students spend hours working on writing assignments that we give them. And after they hand them in, we spend hours reading them and marking errors. Is this the best way to help students become better writers? Is this the most effective way for us to spend our time? This article discusses differents ways of responding to student writing and gives practical suggestions for ways to improve our evaluation of this difficult, but valuable skill.
